MON. 11-19 Onward to Taramindo

Gina and I had to pay our respects to the Volcano Gods before we left Arenal.

It began with a 4 hour drive past many rockslides in the rain just to get 60 miles around Lake Arenal.

YES, it IS raining. It's Costa Rica, why would you ask?

There was a German town on one end of the lake With several Hotels, bakeries and restaurants.

Typical Costa Rican Bridge.

Luis got us booked into an All Inclusive, Barcelo resort. They have decent accommodations, like most big resorts. Good drinks, entertainment and lots of food. Luis was in heaven, and I think Gina already had a little Captain in her.

Nice pool, but no Jacuzzi
Iguana’s were crawling around and birds aplenty. The birds were stealing chips from the make it yourself Nacho bin, and the Iguana’s were trying to figure out how to get into the pizza oven.

Gina and I went to the beach and eventually found out what the red, yellow and green flags on the beach were for. They marked where the tide should be to avoid the rip currents. OK, so it was in the RED zone, but who knew?? We only discovered this after we were on our way to the next continent. Good thing we are both strong swimmers. Which is what the told us as he passed us to go rescue the guy further out who was bound for Australia . Other than that, it was a very nice beach during the right time of day.

TUES. 11-20 2nd day at Taramindo

Joe, Gina and I went to Pirate’s beach to snorkel while Lynda and Penny decorated the pool. It was an hour each way on a VERY rough dirt road.

Later Penny and Lynda went to the Casino for the Slot machines. Joe helped them each with a touch for good luck and they both came back winners.

Joe was of course "Amply rewarded" (note imprints on his shirt)------>

After dinner we noticed how many Raccoons there were roaming about and begging for food.

Later that night on the stumble back to the room, I saw another cute little furry creature wandering about near our room.
