The Island of Guadeloupe
Its bustling harbor

in Deshaies, they call this total gridlock!

YEAH MON! It's a bit laid-back here.

Captain Neil put us ashore with no idea what we would find there. "Let me know what you find." says he!

About 2 miles later, "over the river and through the woods"
We found this HUGE beautiful, nearly deserted Beach
But what good is a beach without a BEACH-BAR???
Fortunatelly, we had a seasoned explorer as point man.
Who discovered

Even without command of the language Richard got us a gift of FREE RUM from Sam. It was a cup with raw sugar in the bottom, covered with passionfruit seed, and an ice cube. He showed us to mash it together, then a squeeze of lime, and he topped with strong rum.

SAM was the perfect host. Although he spoke only French, he anticipated our every need. He started grilling Chickens and Mahi before we ever began ordering. The smell was irresistable! Later he made flaming Bananna's Foster, as well as a Flaming coconut dessert.

We eventually ran him out of beer, so he just started serving up free rum. When we were ready to leave, Sam brought half a bottle of rum with the passionfruit concoction "Por Le Capitan"
Some made it too..............
